WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?

QUESTION SIX:
During the making of the visitor i was introduced to a number of new technologies, they are as follows:
- Apple Macs
- Tripods
- Digital Video Camera
- Digital Camera

Before the visitor, i was familiar with using a digital camera for social reasons, covering family events and birthdays- covering such events, the shots used unknowingly where handy cam shots. My usage of the camera was usually very shaky and had very little strategic use at all. However, when learning about the importance of a steady camera shot and the usage of the tripod and strategic ways of holding the camera and placing it, this was all changed and reflected in the visitor.
also with learning the importance of the stready shots i also came to grips with the effect of the different types of shots and how they can differently portray a different representation.

Getting to grips with using the Mac computer was probably the hardest thing of all. usually using a PC, coming to the mac computer was very alien to me. becoming comfortable with it was quite difficuly but by the time the editing came around i was within my comfort zone with the different softwares. This came with my playing around during the preliminairy stage and just working out how everything worked without being shadowed or directly tutored on how the softwares work and this isnt how i work most effectively, i enjoyed playing with the editing programmes and mastering the use via trial and error. Some of the main skills i learnt where:
- how to succesfully operate iMovie HD
- the 'screen grab' (similar to print screen on Windows)

When the mac software didnt allow us to do what we needed to, we went a little futher and used internet websites which allowed us to take our project a step further. for example www.slideshare.net allowed us to upload powerpoint presentations which helped alot in the research process as it was alot easier to draw up tables and contrasts etc.
also, www.dafont.com allowed us to take our titles to another level by not just restricting outselves to the simples fonts that the macs had to offer which the other groups resticted themselves too.

i feel that overall the amount of knowledge ive been able to gain from has been phenomenal. ive learned how to operate a whole new type of technology and how to use a number of different internet tools.
